Jay Calcagno is a Legislative Coordinator at CAC and a CBHA Policy Analyst. Hr is also a CBHA alum who returns with a wealth of experience in advocacy, education, and mental health work. He has worked for nonprofit organizations including the California Alliance of Child and Family Services, the California School-Based Health Alliance, and Planned Parenthood, engaging in policy work to improve youth and family well-being.
Additionally, Jay was an educator for several years in the Bay Area with Teach for America, teaching elementary students in Title I schools. His own life experience as an LGBTQ+ individual, his Latinx heritage, and growing up in a Deaf family motivate him to improve education and health equity for all Californians.
Jay is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Loyola Marymount University with a master's degree in Education Policy and Leadership.
